Your Next Steps After Submitting Your Deposit

Getting Ready For Puppy Picking Day

Your appointment times for your puppy picking day are listed on our website. We cannot change these days or times because we pick in the order that the deposits have arrived.

You can come in person to choose or we can arrange a Zoom appointment where you can see our puppies "Live" from your own computer screen. We will not Zoom any other day or time – other than during these appointments. We update the puppy photos regularly on our website so you can follow their development.

Either way you decide to do it - we are here to help you choose the best puppy for your family based on temperament, coat type, and size.

Please let us know if you are coming in person or planningon using Zoom as soon as you know.

We do not discuss individual puppies before this date because by waiting until they are 8 weeks of age we have had the opportunity to assess each puppy’s temperament, coat type, energy level, and size in order to help you make the best choice for your family.

YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR CHECKING THESE APPOINTMENT TIMES BEFORE YOU ARRIVE ON PUPPY PICKING DAY, TO SEE IF THERE HAVE BEEN ANY CHANGES TO THE SCHEDULE. THERE ARE TIMES THAT PEOPLE CHANGE THEIR MINDS AND DO NOT TAKE A PUPPY. WHEN THIS HAPPENS YOU WILL BE MOVED UP ON THE LIST – WHICH WILL ALSO MAKE YOUR APPOINTMENT EARLIER.

PLEASE DO NOT ASK US TO CHANGE YOUR APPOINTMENT TIME OR DATE.

Please be sure to go through our Customer Info Section and FAQ pages  AND VIDEOS on our website as they answer many of the common questions that people have. This will help to make sure that you will be prepared in advance of our appointment. With that being said, we are more than willing to clarify or answer questions in more detail at your appointment as well.

In addition, we need you to watch our 3 video tutorials that outline the paperwork that you'll be receiving with your puppy. It is extremely important that you watch this video prior to Puppy Picking Day. These videos will answer 99% of the questions you have so we can spend more time selecting your puppy than talking about paperwork.

Puppy Picking

On Puppy Picking Day we accomplish the following:

  • Help you select the right puppy for your family

  • Complete all of the purchase paperwork

  • Receive payment for the puppy

On the day your pick your puppy, you will pick in the order we received your deposit and at the appointed time that we scheduled with you.

Your appointment will last for 1 hour to give you time to interact with the puppies, consult with Teresa and make your choice.

Teresa Beal, our head breeder and primary caretaker of the puppies, will help you with selecting your puppy.  She is very experienced with this process and has personally lived with all the puppies for the last 8 weeks and has a very  good understanding of each puppy's temperament and general disposition.

If you are using Zoom for your appointment – We will call you at your appointment time and let you know when you can hop onto Zoom.

For those of you coming in person - the address is:

16771 Kenmore Rd
Kendall, NY  14476

If you drop this address into your GPS, it will take to exactly where you need to go.

We do not have you come to our home where we raise our babies.... as we have done for many years in the past. This is just a safety precaution. The safety of our family and puppies (and yours as well) are our highest priority.

If you need a hotel - you should locate one in Batavia NY, Brockport NY, or Greece NY, depending upon which direction you are coming from.  You can look in AirBnB as well. Search by the town of Kendal or our zip code and acceptable choices may be available.

You will take your puppy home with you on Puppy Picking day.  If you are not able to take home your puppy on this day - YOU MUST MAKE ARRANGEMENTS WITH US CONCERNING THIS. A 25.00 a day boarding fee will be added unless it is being delivered to you with our regularly scheduled delivery.

Delivery & Training

Lakeshore will ALWAYS put the best interest of our puppies before what is convenient for our customers. If we feel, at any time, that there could be any coughs, sneezes, or other health issues that arise with our puppies we will NOT allow them to go home until we are sure everyone is well. If you have paid for plane tickets, rental cars, or hotels and we make the decision to postpone puppy picking day for any reason, all travel expenses and accommodations are your responsibility to cover. This would be a very rare occurrence, but it could occur because we are dealing with live animals. Just as a child can get sick at the most inopportune time – so can our puppies!

SPECIAL NOTE TO CUSTOMERS PURCHASING FOR HOLIDAYS OR BIRTHDAYS ETC:

Lakeshore will ALWAYS put the best interest of our puppies before what is convenient for our customers. If we feel, at any time, that there could be any coughs, sneezes, or other health issues that arise with our puppies we will NOT allow them to go home until we are sure everyone is well. If you are counting on this puppy for a special surprise or occasion we will still put their health above your plans. This would be a very rare occurrence, but it could occur because we are dealing with live animals. Just as a child can get sick at the most inopportune time – so can our puppies!

We will deliver to Syracuse for a fee of $350. We will deliver to Albany for a fee $500. Delivery is subject to availability and availability is limited depending on time of year. Be sure to call us ahead of time to see if delivery is available.

We typically schedule deliveries to Syracuse on the Monday following the puppy picking day (which usually occurs on Saturday’s). We would love to be able to schedule the date and time for delivery so that it could fit best into your individual schedule but unfortunately there are too many people wanting different days and times making this impossible. This date is most often set-up the day the puppies are born…. so please make sure that the day and time we have set aside for this will work for you – because we cannot vary from our schedule.

If your puppy is going to the trainer and will require delivery after that has been completed – PLEASE TALK TO THE TRAINER TO SET UP THE DELIVERY.

Puppy Photos:

We understand completely, how hard it is to wait to meet your puppy and how exciting it is to see new photos! We will be taking photos and adding them to our website so you can see how they are maturing. The first photo is taken shortly after they arrive. We wait for everyone to be nursing strongly before taking them away from mom to accomplish this. The second photos are taken after they are 2 weeks of age – when all of the puppies have completely opened their eyes. We will typically take 2 more sets of photos spaced about 2 weeks apart. We are very busy caring for the puppies and the mothers as well as properly socializing the babies. Puppy photos are a very time consuming project, therefore we will never be able to take as many as you would desire to see!

ZOOM APPOINTMENTS ARE ONLY DONE ON PUPPY PICKING DAY FOR THOSE WHO CANNOT COME IN PERSON TO CHOOSE THEIR PUPPY.

WHAT DO WE NEED TO BRING OUR PUPPY HOME IN?

If more than one person is coming to get the puppy – the puppy may be most content sitting in your lap. Because puppies can get car sick you will want to have old blankets or towels in your lap during the ride. It is also very advisable to bring a crate in case your puppy gets wiggly and you need to confine him/her during the trip. If you are driving alone you MUST have a crate.
