Daisy is such a sweet dog. The kids love her!!!!! Our son has been so great with her. He typically spends a lot of time alone in his room and refuses to come out to socialize; however, he spends so much more time with all of us. He takes care of her like she is his baby. He loves her so much, it is so nice seeing him smiling . Thanks

Hi Beth!! It is hard to believe that we have had Daisy for a month already. She is doing great and is such a big part of our family. As you know, our son has a long history of emotional difficulties and one way how we try to help him is through family therapy twice per month. He usually hates going but this week he was thrilled to go because we brought Daisy with us. She was happy to go and was so mellow during the session. The psychologist loved her and wants us to bring her every session. Our son is a different kid, he is so much happier, talkative and caring. Getting Daisy has been truly a miracle. She is so smart, loving, and well behaved. Once again we cannot thank you enough. As always, will include you in my prayers at church tomorrow. Hope all is well. God bless!!
WHY DOES LAKESHORE DOODLES OFFER CANINE COMFORT FOR KIDS?
My childhood was like many others - including times of confusion, loss, and feelings of pain and hurt. During those periods in my life I had a mixed breed dog that I found one summer day on my Uncle's dairy farm. Buffy quickly became a very important part of my life. On those days where it felt like nobody cared, like I did not fit in anywhere, or when I believed my world had fallen completely apart - she was always there, by my side, with unconditional love that never wavered. On my worst days she adored me and wanted to be with me no matter how I was feeling. So many kids/teens are living with painful life circumstances that they did nothing to cause..... that they have no power to change..... and they have no idea when or if they will improve.
The unconditional love of a puppy won't remove their pain....
but it certainly can add a lot of joy on those days when life is really hard!
Lakeshore Doodles will donate one of our puppies to a child/teen who could benefit from the unconditional love that a puppy can bring, whether that's from:
Parent serving overseas in the armed forces
Loss or Death of a family member
Loss due to Hurricane, Tornado, Flooding, Fire
Other Tragedy or Discouragement
If you would like to nominate a child to receive a Canine Comfort Companion puppy please follow the directions below.
The person making the nomination must have the prior consent of the parent(s) of the child or teen being nominated.
The child or teen being nominated must live within the United States of America
The child or teen must not be told they are being nominated - we absolutely DO NOT WANT to disappoint a child who is already experiencing the difficulties of life, if they are not selected.
The parent(s) of the child or teen must email us stating they are willing and able to provide a safe and loving home for this puppy
We will choose a home for the puppy based on the need of the child BUT ALSO BASED UPON THE NEED OF THE PUPPY! We will choose a family who will make sure the puppy is well cared for and one whose home will fit the temperament, coat type, and size of the puppy we have selected to donate. THE SPECIFIC PUPPY WILL BE CHOSEN AFTER THE CHILD HAS BEEN SELECTED - SO THAT WE CAN PICK A TEMPERAMENT, COAT TYPE, AND SIZE THAT WILL FIT WELL INTO THEIR SPECIFIC HOME AND FAMILY.
Lakeshore Doodles will donate the puppy to the family for free, but any and all vet care, as well as the daily needs for the puppy, including training, will be the responsibility of its new owners.
If at anytime the family can no longer keep the puppy/dog - it will be returned to Lakeshore Doodles and not surrendered, given, or sold to any other family, shelter, or situation.
